I am divorced and my ex husband has been lying about social security. Should I get a lawyer and sue him for fraud?
Full Question: I am divorced and my Ex husband DID NOT pay into social security for me. We had a farm and a business in which I worked side by side by him, but did not receive a paycheck. We built that business from ground up. And he claimed all the income. When we filed income taxes, he lied to me. He told me that he was paying into social security for me. During our marriage, I had a fall in a store and he made me settle out of court for 8000.00 which was a mistake. Now I suffer. You see, he was very abusive and controling. Now I get disability which amounts to nothing. My girlfriend told me to take him to court and sue him for fraud. For lieing to me about paying in for me to social secuity. He also lied to social secuity regarding our handicapped daughter and I ended up paying back 11,000.00 to them. But that is another story about his lieing. But is there any way I can get him for fraud about his lieing to me about not paying in to social security during the time we were married (16 years). I only get $411.00 for disability. He is a very good lier. That is how he gets ahead.
Sorry for the late response. I have a BUSY schedule.
I will be honest. I definitely am not knowledgeable in the area of the law. I would definitely talk to a lawyer about it. I would definitely take advice from your girlfriend as well. Also, try to find evidence that he did lie to if possible. As far as his lying, your going have to let karma do the job. I do not know if you believe in that or not but I do. In order to definitely win in court, you have to provide strong proof that he is lying. That is all the advice I have. This is a tough situation.
